Canale Cup – 21st of July at Brendale
After a great win against Peninsula Power a few weeks ago, ACE has now drawn first division team Toowoomba for the crucial game that will take the winner into the semi-finals against either Rochedale Rovers or North Pine.
Toowoomba is no stranger to ACE or Wolter Park being part of the division 1 competition for many years. They are a very good squad and we can expect a tough and fair game on the night. Toowoomba has always been a good friend of ACE and we look forward to meeting them at Brendale this time.
The game will be played at Brendale at 7.30 p.m. and will be preceded by a match between the QAS Women’s team against the ACE Under 15 RSJPL squad. The QAS Women will include 7 players from the Matilda’s five of whom were part of the Australian squad that won the Asian Cup in an exciting match that was decided on penalties. The rest of the team is made up of women from the Australian U17 and U20 squads.
Wednesday the 21st of July promises to be a great evening of football as we showcase the best in Junior Football, Women’s and Senior Men’s. We are looking for a large crowd at Brendale to support both of our teams. If we are successful in defeating Toowoomba we will reach the semi-final round of the Canale Cup which has not happened for more than 10 years, so come along and be part of ACE history and support our teams to a win.
The link below shows the next round of matches in the Canale cup and the road to the finals.

Two New Fields at Brendale in 2011
Over the past four and a half years we have been in collaboration with the Moreton Bay City Council about the club’s strategic and expansion plans. The work has now been rewarded as council this week commences work on our two new fields and a new car park on the Southern side of our existing fields at Brendale. Works are part of a $3.7 million budget approved by council to develop sporting facilities in the Brendale Sports Complex. This initiative is indicative of the commitment and vision that the Moreton Bay City Council has for the community. Mike Charlton, his fellow councillors and staff of Moreton Bay, truly understand the importance of supporting community sporting clubs like ACE and we cannot thank them enough for their understanding, vision and support. Club President Claude Sorbello said “Working with Mike Charlton and the Moreton Bay City Council in general is a pleasure. They are a group of people that are committed to sport, to children and to the community. Their attitude is one of collaboration rather than conflict and they truly understand the limitations placed on volunteer run clubs like ACE. I wish that some of the other Government bodies took a similar hands on approach.
The two new fields will be ready in time for the 2011 season allowing ACE to continue growing.

WE WILL MISS YOU GERRY 29/8/2009
It is with utmost regret and sympathy that we advise the loss of the clubs founder and lifetime member Mr. Gerry Archer. The Executive and Management Committee of the club would like to extend their condolences to Sheila, Lindsey, Glen, Cameron and their respective families. Gerry was an active member of the club up until some years ago and would regularly be seen within the supporters of the club's topside. He was an incredibly respected man by all that knew him. A fundamental essence of our club is family and community and this loss unites us in acknowledging an individual that committed so much of his time, life and energy for all members and players of our sporting clubs.
Gerry's funeral held at Wolter Park on Friday the 29th of August at 2.00 p.m. was attended by more than 300 family, friends, current and previous members. The afternoon was filled with the famous Gerry cheer " ACE ACE ACE!" and was labeled by the family as a celebration of Gerry's life. Among the many great stories about Gerry, one grandchild told us of an incidence only days before his passing. Gerry overheard one of his family members complaining about an individual at work which was making life difficult for her. Having overheard the story, Gerry asked for the persons name and then replied, "Don't worry love, I will take care of this, I'm about to go into the haunting business! This story, potrays the humour of a great man.
Gerry left the field to the sound of the final whistle from the ref. The exit of the field was surrounded by a guard of honour of player's and club members wearing the club colours and then by a wall of family and friends. Gerry, followed by a number of vintage cars, did a final lap of Wolter Park and then drove past the guard of honour to a roaring applause and upon reaching his grandchildren, they released red, white and black ballons into the sky.
Gerry's memory will be around ACE for many years to come hopefully inspiring others to develop and expand our club to it's fully potential. We will miss you mate!
WE DID IT - 15/08/2008
What started as a bitter disappointment as the State Government turned down our grant application for a facilities building turned our way after a meeting between our Club President Claude Sorbello, Senator George Brandis the Federal Minister of Sport and Peter Dutton. Reco
gnising our needs, the Federal Government promptly approved a grant for $165,000 as a contribution towards our project keeping the project alive. This instigated the opportuinty for further negotiations with Councillor Mike Charlton and various members of Pine Rivers Council which led to another $165,000 grant towards the project. With $330,000 in h
and versus our original application for $200,000 we set about building a modern facilities building that would establish a new benchmark for the clubs future and direction. From here it became a challange on how to get the most out of limited amounts of funds in order to build what we truly needed rather than just toilets and changerooms. Our President and our member Ian Howie, both involved in the construction industry, set about establishing a plan where Ian would build the building whilst Claude would manage all other aspects of the project in order to save costs. The work of many volunteers and in particular the Management Committee over many weekends saved costs and the assistance of local businesses some of which were members of the club assisted in keeping costs low. The result is a building valued at over $1,000,000 built with $330,000 of grants, $100,000 of club funds, $30,000 worth of work donated by Ian Howie, over $100,000 worth of work donated by our President and the rest made up of voluntter assistance and business support. All the money invested by the club in this project were raised through special initiatives run by the Management Committee resulting in members not needing to make additional contributions to its construction. This is the spirit of ACE. We acknowledge and offer special thanks to Peter Dutton, Mike Charlton and Senator Brandis.

BRENDALE FACILITIES BUILDING 11/01/2008
After considerable negotiation and support from Peter Dutton the club was successfull in obtaining funds that will allow the commencement of a new facilities building at the Brendale Junior fiels. This facility will replace the temporary demountables that have been used as toilets dor the past 6 years. The Pine Rivers Council through the leadership of Mike Charlon also provided a level of assistance which has been tremendous and has allowed the scope of the project to develop a little more. Work commenced on the new facility in January 2008 with an expected completion of June 2008.

New Lights at Wolter Park Dec 2007
After failing the yearly light test at Wolter Park we were advised by the lighting consultants that the only way to pass the test was to replace every light on the light poles. Unfortunately this had not been budgeted however the importance of the matter ment we had no choice on the matter. Fortunately our inhouse electrician Steve from Laser Electric quickly stepped in to negotiate a price for the work and thanks to some assistance from the local council we were able to complete the work in time for the start of the season. Thank Steve for your assistance.
New Goal Posts at Wolter Park and Brendale Oct 2007
Stephen Bryant and Brad Robinson designed and constructed the new goal posts that have been installed at Wolter Park and Brendale. Their design ensures safety for players and ease of use in attaching and detaching the nets. The club has invested more than $29,000 on new goal posts for seniors and juniors across the club. The additional goals at Brendale have now allowed for a second full size field to be created for weekend matches.
Irrigation System at Brendale Rooball Fields Jan 2008
After many years I'm happy to say that we have retired the big boom spray and replaced it with a set of undergroud sprinkler system that will ensure we get water to the field as opposed to the surrounding areas. This investment of $11,500 will ensure that our Rooball fields will hold out better for our little ones during the season.
